I am a Lecturer and Senior Fellow at the Open University and Chartered Psychologist. I completed a degree in sports, a master's in Sport & Exercise Psychology and a PhD in Sport & Health Sciences. My research extends across different topics - Sports, Sociology and Psychology which I feel is a real strength when teaching.

Tutoring experience

I have taught at various institutions including the Open University, De Montfort University, University of Exeter, University of Bath, and University of Northampton. However, I have been private tutoring for a few years and have supported many students through their exams. I enjoy making topics that I am passionate about accessible to younger people who are hoping to take Sports, Sociology and Psychology at GCSE and/or A Level.

Approach to tutoring

In 1998, my entrance into teaching was inspired after watching Dead Poets Society, just like the late Robin Williams; “No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world” (John Keating). My initial experiences of teaching in education were in primary and preparatory schools and it was not until 2008 when I started teaching in Higher Education (HE). I enjoy using creative methods to help explain complex concepts because I believe that all students learn differently. Also, I draw on psychological skills training to help students prepare for exams.
