Contact ANNA MCIVER

I adore languages and helping people learn and grow in confidence. I lived in Japan for 2 years and immersed myself in the language and culture, attending summer school, weekly lessons and quickly reaching intermediate level. I also have a first class honours degree in French with distinction. I enjoyed making friends with people from all over the French- speaking world when I lived in France as part of my degree and visiting their beautiful countries. I would love to help you grow in your French and Japanese language skills.

Tutoring experience

I have taught French at College to adults/in primary schools and tutored at KS3 and GCSE. My students have increased hugely in confidence, understanding and skill. They have appreciated the way I have responded to their specific needs, whether grammar, vocabulary, or preparing for a French Exchange Program. I have also taught English in Japan and have a PGCE in Primary education; I have a deep understanding of the psychology of language acquisition and learning styles. I have also picked up many tips, games and creative activities to help you succeed and thoroughly enjoy your tutoring with me.

Approach to tutoring

I am a very positive, patient, encouraging teacher who loves to build confidence in my students. I take care to tailor lessons to the individual, building on strengths and supporting areas needing further development. I include creative resources that make learning fun and appeal to each person's unique learning style. I consider a range of skills-speaking/listening/reading/writing - and can offer advice on study/revision skills to maximise your success.
