I am an honours graduate of computer science and electronics. I spent 17 years in corporate management before becoming self employed as, among other things, a freelance lecturer. I am a professional life coach (uklifecoaching.org) and tutor for enjoyment.
Tutoring experience
I taught freelance for Bedford College for 3 years, and have been tutoring for 5 years. I have qualifications in adult teaching, and my coaching qualification also helps a lot.
Approach to tutoring
Effective tutoring is a wonderful opportunity because I can taylor what I do very spoecifically for the student I'm working with, and that's as much about their personality and stress levels as it is about the material we're working with. I believe in teaching understanding rather than isolated rules, it builds confidence and security and does not rely on memory. My sessions are as relaxed and fun-filled as I can possibly make them without sacrificing the learning task before us.
